Jiao Yahui introduced at the press conference of the State Council Information Office on the same day that the plan supports overseas medical professionals such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, etc. to practice locally for a short period of time in accordance with regulations, and simplifies and optimizes the approval process. She mentioned that the purpose of expanding China's pilot opening-up in the medical field is to introduce high-quality medical resources, enrich local medical service supply, meet the differentiated and personalized medical service needs of domestic residents and foreign nationals in China, and form a complementary pattern with domestic basic medical service supply. Jiao Yahui stated that in the future, we will actively promote the development of commercial health insurance to support foreign-funded medical institutions, encourage foreign-funded medical institutions to actively participate in and use the Chinese version of international hospital accreditation standards, and use this to connect with international commercial health insurance. China has previously carried out pilot projects such as foreign-owned hospitals. Jiao Yahui said that according to statistics, there are currently more than 150 joint venture and wholly-owned medical institutions, and there are about 1500 overseas medical personnel practicing in China for a short period of time.
