Overall, the construction of Guangdong's medical and health service system has achieved positive results.

One is to establish a basic hierarchical diagnosis and treatment order. More than 99% of the people in the province stay in the province for medical treatment, 95% stay in the city, and 85% stay in the county. During the 13th Five Year Plan period, Guangdong ranked first in the country in the effectiveness evaluation of graded diagnosis and treatment construction.

The second is the overall improvement of the capacity of public hospitals. In the 2021 performance evaluation of national tertiary public hospitals, 11 comprehensive hospitals and 12 traditional Chinese medicine hospitals in Guangdong ranked among the top 100 in the country, with 65 hospitals rated A or above, ranking first in the country.

Thirdly, the health level of residents has significantly improved. The average life expectancy of residents in the province has increased to 79.3 years, and the maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate have decreased to 9.40/100000 and 2.27 ‰, respectively. The main health indicators have reached the level of middle and high-income countries.

The fourth is that the deepening of medical reform has achieved significant results. The province has received significant supervision and incentives from the State Council for deepening reforms six times, and has been rated as one of the top ten new measures in national healthcare reform for six consecutive years. Its reform experience in "group style" close assistance, "public welfare first class financial supply, public welfare second class performance management", and "county recruitment, county management, and town use" is renowned throughout the country. This also lays a solid foundation for Guangdong to further improve its medical and health service system.
